How To Take Care Of Myself; Physically And Mentally?
Amidst leading hectic lifestyles and balancing a social life, many of us forget to take care of ourselves. To take care of our body does not mean to eat and sleep, it also means to pay attention to what it says and to provide it with everything it needs, and additional things. Many of us assume that eating healthy and being active are the only two ways in which one can care for their body. This is untrue. Clean eating and fitness are important elements in taking care of your appearance and well-being; however, they are not the only ways in which you care for your body. Who we are as people and how we perceive things can be broken down into two main categories which are; your physical state and your mental state. In order to truly take care of yourself, both your physical and mental states need to be given priority and attention.
Physical care- this means to take care of the physical components of your body. Eating healthy is one of the best ways to rid of any complications in your health, and working out makes your appearance look better. Paying special attention to your appearance is not wrong. Many assume to care about what you look like is to be vain. This is untrue. Paying attention only to your physical being maybe vain; however trying to look good in to match how you feel is a great way to take care of you. Many assume that cosmetic clinics and surgical and non-surgical treatments to your face are only for women. This is untrue; men are allowed to spend a bit on their appearance to feel good. The stigma around plastic surgery and non-surgical cosmetic treatments are that it is not good.
This is debatable as many that undergo a proper lip enhancement for example, do so to feel good. The added benefits to non-surgical cosmetics are that they are cheaper and safer. However, this does not mean that people that part in such treatments are to be judged. We all prefer to feel good, and for some us that can only be achieved with the help of certain treatments. Mental care- this means to pay attention to how you perceive the world to be. Many of us are unnecessarily hard on ourselves. This is mainly because we have become so accustomed to our bodies that we naturally only see our flaws. This needs to change. You should teach your mind to look in a mirror and to see all the good features it has, and how unique and beautiful you are as a person. Learning to love and accept yourself is a journey; however slow and steady steps is the way to go.
